Summary

The G Pro Wireless and Razer Viper Ultimate are both exceptional professional-tier wireless gaming mice that will adequately satisfy whatever high performance mouse needs you may have. That being said, one of them is clearly better than the other, both on paper and in practice.

The Razer Viper Ultimate was clearly designed and produced with the clear goal of one-upping the G Pro Wireless, was easily considered the best wireless gaming mouse on the market before the Razer Viper Ultimate showed  up. The Razer Viper Ultimate beats the G Pro Wireless in several key areas that, when compared head to head with the G Pro Wireless, should be more than enough to convince buyers to spring for the Razer.

First, the Razer Viper Ultimate is lighter, coming in at 74 grams in comparison to the 80 gram weight of the G Pro Wireless. This may not seem like much, but every gram of weight reduction counts when you're talking about competitive gaming.

Next, the Razer Viper Ultimate's battery life is a feat of modern technical engineering, crushing the widely praised  48+ hours of the G Pro Wireless with 70+ hours of battery life per charge. It's worth mentioning that both the Razer Viper Ultimate and the G Pro Wireless can get better battery life by turning off the RGB lighting.

If you plan on purchasing the compatible wireless charging mouse pads for the Logitech G Pro Wireless, then the longer battery life of the Razer Viper Ultimate becomes irrelevant unless you are traveling.

While the Razer Viper Ultimate doesn't have a compatible wireless charging mouse pad, the charging dock does enable wireless charging, and, while the charging dock does not come for free, it's additional price is very low. At this time, the price of the Razer Viper Ultimate + the charging dock is equivalent to the price of the stand-alone G Pro Wireless.

Both the G Pro Wireless and Razer Viper Ultimate have pro-tier sensors, wireless transmission, and tracking resolution. When you get this level of performance slight improvements become meaningless in any practical application. That being said, the Razer Viper Ultimate does offer both a higher IPS and and tracking resolution. The Razer Viper Ultimate's tracking speed is 650 IPS vs the 400+ IPS of the G Pro Wireless. Even the most competitive of gamers won't notice this difference when it comes to actually using the mice in gameplay.

The Logitech Hero sensor on the G Pro Wireless allows you to set the tracking resolution up to 16,000 dpi, while the Razer Ultimate Pro can be set up to 20,000 dpi. Anything over 3,000 dpi is far too sensitive for most people, so the extra 4,000 dpi option on the Razer Viper Ultimate is a pretty useless feature.

Finally, at this point in time the Razer Viper Ultimate is about 20% less expensive than the G Pro Wireless. When you compare the two gaming mice on paper, it's hard to justify paying more for the G Pro Wireless. If you already predomintantly own Logitech computer peripherals, you may consider getting the G Pro Wireless for the sake of being able to manage all your peripherals in Logitech's G Hub software suite. The same logic goes for Razer peripherals and software.

At the end of the day, both of these wireless gaming mice will adequately satisfy your need for a pro-tier high performance mouse.
